Customize Management Development Programme ANVESHAN Commences at IIM Indore
Focused on capacity building, the four-day programme witnessed a participation of officials from 10 states
The fourth batch of the (MDP) for senior officials under IIM Indore’s Centre of Excellence ANVESHAN, began on March 05, 2024. The four day programme aimed at enhancing the capacity of senior officials from various municipalities across the nation was inaugurated by Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai. Prof. Subin Sudhir, Chair- Executive Education and Prof. Shruti Tewari, Programme Coordinator was also present on this occasion.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Rai emphasized the importance of effective leadership and collaboration in driving transformative change in urban governance. He highlighted the role of initiatives like Swachh Bharat in shaping India’s landscape and praised the dedication of officials towards a cleaner India. Prof. Rai underscored the concept of ‘Janbhagidari’ (collective participation) and ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), stressing the significance of collaboration and inclusivity in nation-building efforts. “Successful leaders must possess a keen receptivity to fresh perspectives.
In today’s rapidly changing landscape, adaptability is paramount, particularly within the context of teamwork”, he said. Prof. Rai highlighted the importance of efficient collaboration, noting that effective leaders actively seek out opportunities to work alongside others, leveraging diverse viewpoints for innovative solutions. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity for continuous self-improvement, asserting that successful leaders are committed to refining their abilities over time.
This holistic approach to leadership fosters an environment of growth and innovation, enabling individuals to thrive amidst the complexities of contemporary challenges, he said.
Prof. Subin Sudhir, welcomed the new batch and highlighted the programme’s aim to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for addressing contemporary challenges in urban development. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and implementation to drive sustainable change in municipalities across the country.
Prof. Shruti Tewari, reflected on the evolution of the programme and its impact on contributing to the Clean India initiative. She highlighted the diverse challenges faced by different cities and the importance of peer learning in finding innovative solutions. This programme will help effectively address the unique challenges of each municipality, she said.
The fourth batch of the Customized MDP comprises senior officials from Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, UP, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tripura and Bihar. The programme, spanning four days, will cover a comprehensive range of topics crucial for effective urban development management.
Participants can expect to engage with esteemed faculty and industry experts, gaining insights and strategies to tackle the dynamic and complex challenges of urban governance and development. They will delve into strategies for Leadership
Communication, gaining insights into effective communication practices in leadership roles. Project Management sessions will equip them with essential skills for successful project implementation. Participants will explore topics such as Biogas and Waste to Energy, discovering sustainable energy sources and management practices.
They will also engage in discussions on Innovation, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving. Other areas of focus will include emerging priorities for urban implementation, resource planning, waste management, and legacy dumpsite remediation. Additionally, participants will learn about improving public toilets, financial management, and behavioral change strategies.
Through collaborative learning and knowledge exchange, the programme aims to empower senior municipal officials to drive sustainable and inclusive urban development initiatives nationwide.
